Don’t go soft on ‘crack cocaine’ betting machines, Philip Hammond is told by the Church of England

The Church of England yesterday begged ministers not to abandon their clampdown on the spread of high stakes gambling machines.

A senior bishop warned Chancellor Philip Hammond that there is alarm in the CofE over signals that the Treasury has halted plans to slash the amounts that High Street gamblers can pump into the machines.
